Has anyone ever heard of a 50cc Harley?
Years ago, around 1960 my older brother and I pooled our re$ources and bought a second-hand "real" motorcycle. It was a 50cc Harley 2-stroke I think it was called a Hummer. Funny looking thing, big frame, tiny engine and rubber band front suspension. We had to replace the wornout bands with strips of bike innertube. As soon as we could we replaced the fork with a scrounged shock fork off of something - sort of fit but kicked the front wheel way out and screwed up the handling something fierce. This bike was so sluggish that we had to rev the engine way up and pop the clutch just to get it rolling, but we had a bike and at the time that's what was really important. Within a year we sold it and moved up to a new 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub. Yes!! it happened -- old habits prevailed -- reved her up, popped the clutch ---- wheeeelie!! down the block! Did manage to bring it down, but had enough adrenalin for the entire neighborhood. Great memories!!!
